Fear the Walking Dead
BEHIND THE SCENES
My friend tagged me in a Facebook post about the Barbarella casting agency looking for Extras who look American.
For the Series Fear the Walking Dead and its being shot in the Mountains of Rosarito, Mexico.
Since I am from Germany and I look 'gringa', I sent an email to them and got a acall the next day to come in.
We had to be in the Fox Studios at a particular time and a bus drove us to a privat place in the mountains.
We got breakfast, clothes for our roles, makeup and a car drove us to teh shootingpoint.
The people and equipments used for a series big as fear the walking dead is gigantic.
I never knew and thought about that before, but there were more than 300 people involved.
Interesting was to talk to people with different tasks.
I got to talk to the Director because he saw me smoking and I seemed to young for him to smoke haha
I was telling him my story travelling from europe to mexico and he told me about his life and work too.
I had a friend who wanted to participate in the series and was not really american looking and when I told him about my friend, he said I should not worry, he would just need his name and he would make sure he could be part of it.
His job as a Director may be one of the best paid, but also require a lot of work.
In every scene he has to overlook everyone and orchestrate whats gonna happen next.
I also talked to some of the main actors who were having a lot of fun shooting and were normal people just like you and me.
The people who worked for the Casting agency and organized whats happening with us (the extras) had to wake up early and be active **ALL DAY! **
We, when not shooting a scene were sitting in the sun, eating lunch and dinner, playing footbal and talking to each other. But they had to be aware of what is happening at the whole scene all the time.
Now that I have been there, behind the cameras, watching series is not the same..
I think about how many times this one scene must have been shooted and from how many angels.
How many people are involved and how much time and money they invest.
Now you may ask what my role was and what season we shooted. (3 season)
I was a rancher and I may or may not have shot zombies too ;-)
Fear the Walking Dead is an American post-apocalyptic horror drama television series created by Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson
