Adnan Syed is a former high school student who was convicted of murdering his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee in 1999. The case gained national attention after it was featured in the popular podcast "Serial" in 2014.

Syed was convicted and sentenced to life in prison in 2000, but he has always maintained his innocence. The case against him was largely based on the testimony of a key witness, Jay Wilds, who claimed to have helped Syed bury Lee's body.
