Adobe just released an API called Adobe Sensei. This is a new visual search API released for developers.
This new API is available on adobe's io. This is the first ever to be released from adobe to the public. This service allows your users to upload any photo lettering or type and the API will visually search and return a list of similar typefaces on typekit. It doesn't take a high skill level for your users to utilize this new API.
Adobe has added support for this API with full documentation. Inside the document you will find well organized layout, and API references.
Adobe believes they are putting the users in control of their own fonts.
