A new movie, starring Kurt Russel is coming out soon. What is it about?
A young agent is tasked with investigating a tangled web of corruption and fraud in New York.
This doesn't sound like a good plot for the movie about cryptocurrency. Corruption and fraud, in fact, is like a plague for the crypto world, so the movie won't show cryptocurrency form the shiny point of view. Oh, just watch the trailer:
As you can see, the "CRYPTO" movie won't probably be the worst, but it can turn out to be amazingly bad, it has all the ingredients for that.
Ingredients
First of all, it is the criminal drama-thriller - not the best way to show people all the good things that cryptocurrency can bring to our future. It is about money laundering through crypto. Maybe they added some terrorist financing and integration of bitcoin into criminal sphere. Amazingly awesome things to show, right?
Second thing is, it normally takes some time to make a movie - to shoot it and to write the scenario, so, most probably, an idea to make this movie appeared somewhere around the middle of 2017, more probably, just at the top of the crypto bubble hysteria. This means, nobody really tried to make an awesome story or some breath-taking scenes - guys just decided to grab some extra cash using the high popularity of every crypto-related thing.
As if all the mentioned above is not enough for the people who will have their first meeting with the cryptocurrency, they added Russian mafia. Just in case.
Judging by the trailer, it seems that the movie has nothing about the actually good and thrilling ways to use crypto, for example, to buy the virtual land and build a mansion in the virtual world in Decentraland. No wonder, there were no such things back in 2017, when the scenario was written (hopefully, not).
Hey, black PR is also PR!

Dear @coinatory
Interesting choice of topic. I must admit.
That's very true. But I must admit that trailer did look very encouraging. Thx for sharing :)
who knows. Maybe they will actually shows that nothing that is already on blockchain can be removed. And that money laundering via crypto = always tracks left behind.
But who am I kidding. Hahaha. Of course they will "spit on crypto" and bring false imagine to this industry. Sad.

If you use public blockchains - yes. They shouldn't know about Monero or Dash, or Bytecoin, or Electroneum :)
