Connections

in adoption •  7 years ago

Being adopted myself, have never doubted I would not connect to my future children.

I was raised by a truly inspirational lady I am proud to call my mum.

She was once questioned during her own infertility journey about adopting a child in the UK. The social worker asked her what she would do when one day her adopted child had a problem, would she dump it back on their doorstep.

That has always stuck with me, and saddens me that some people believe a biological connection has some high and mighty power. It doesn’t, and I’ve seen family biologically connected fall apart. Blood isn’t always thicker than water.

I can vouch that my connection with my mum is unbreakable and built upon solid foundations. She gave me love in abundance, and that’s all you need.

I hope some day I have just as strong of a connection to my own children.
