Young man up on a mountain

Part 1: Two Completely Different Things

A young man up on a mountain
is much different than
a young man upon a mountain.
A young man upon a mountain
could have been divined there.
Mountains become magical places
when we think of them
in such context,
and what is not to think
of a young man in a magical place
than that he got there magically as well.
That is not a question
and thus is not so marked.
A young man upon a mountain
does bring those magical thoughts,
deep and contemplative,
exalting and celebratory,
like Buddha or Heidi,
Jesus in the wilderness and
stuff like that.

A young man up on a mountain, however,
is more nuts and bolts,
more adventurous.
A young man up on a mountain
got there from someplace lower;
he had to walk or hike
to get there,
and, having done so, is
more aware of what is below, behind,
as it is there from which he has come.

That is the biggest difference between the two,
the man up on the mountain has that sense of accomplishment
that the other will never know;
he can get to the top,
while the other can just be there.
