The Dark side of Ad Tech (Programmatic Advertising) | WAW event - 11 May 2016

in advertising •  7 years ago

Presenter: Dr. Nico Neumann, Senior Researcher, Institute for Choice, University of South Australia. Date: 11 May 2016 - Web Analytics Wednesday, Sydney.

Programmatic advertising has promised to make digital advertising more efficient, better, and cheaper. However, in reality, the buying process has become very complex, middle men have stuffed their pockets with money at the costs of publishers, and brands need to deal with unviewable ads and ad fraud. In this session, Nico will walk through some of the murky tricks that bad actors in the media ecosystem have applied to exploit the lack of knowledge about advertising technology and the "programmatic game."
