When we ask for advice, we are usually looking for an accomplice. (Saul Bellow)

Have you ever asked someone for advice, when what you truly wanted was the person to tell you that what you would like to do is okay? Maybe you are in a grey zone in which you have to step into some kind of bad stuff in order to achieve what you want to, and know you ask someone to support you in that, or at least, that is what you are hoping they will do?

It is important to understand that there are many people who will tell you exactly what you want to hear, for example Google. If you ask Google about whether you should just have sex in all directions with whoever you want to, you will for sure find answers supporting exactly the view that you have and that you would like to hear.

But, Google isn't your best friend... it is a robot! People might tell you what you want to hear, but a true friend will tell you what you should hear, need to hear, and not necessarily what you want to hear.

That is actually one of the great ways of finding out who truly is your friend, because a true friend wouldn't let you hurt yourself or your surroundings, so they would rather be a little bit unpopular, instead of giving you bad advice.
