In The Aetherverse the Shatarins are a horde of genocidal religious zealots and pedophile cannibals, but ironically their language is fairly pleasant. I modeled it on Farsi and Arabic and created it before I'd even thought of the Shatarins.
The Shatarin language is the demotic speech of the Shatarin Empire and the liturgical language of the Shatarins’ barbaric holy book, The Eternal Mutalbin. Due to its abysmal reputation, few Arterran universities offer courses in Shatarin.
