Aetherverse Conlangs: Tellurian

in aetherverse •  5 years ago

Tellurian was the second conlang I invented for The Aetherverse. It was fun to construct because I used consistent sound changes from real-world Latin to derive Tellurian vocabulary. Because it's so similar to actual Romance languages, it's easy to use and takes way less time to translate than the rest of the Aetherverse conlangs.

While artificial, the Tellurian language of The Aetherverse is literally a descendant of Latin, making it a hypothetical Romance language. It is derived from the Classical Latin spoken by the Romans at the time of their mass abduction by the alien Procyon (i.e., the Grays).
