Since the inception of the Trump presidency, the Media or "Fake News Media" as he calls it always have so much to report, either issues related to Immigration, Healthcare , Iran & Middle East, Asian/Pacific especially China & North Korea, Russian hacking scandal, Family meddling in Government business, Firing of close allies etc. Reporters always have something to report and breaking news is just a mater of day break! Love him or hate him, the media outfits are enjoying their moment of unending reportage.

Interestingly, barely 2 days ago, Donald Trump's explosive remark has been directed to Africa and as reported by ALI VITALI, KASIE HUNT and FRANK THORP V of NBC NEWS, "Trump referred to Haiti and African nations as ‘shithole’ countries" Find below the report;

President Donald Trump referred to Haiti and African nations as "shithole countries" during a meeting with a bipartisan group of senators at the White House, a Democratic aide briefed on Thursday's meeting told NBC News.
Trump's comments were first reported by The Washington Post , which said the nations referred to by Trump also included El Salvador.
More so,
The U.N. human rights office said the comments, if confirmed, were "shocking and shameful" and "racist," while Haiti's foreign minister summoned the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Robin Diallo for clarification.

**Is Africa truly a shithole continent as insinuated by President Donald Trump of the US?
**
Africa is not and has never been a Shithole continent as stated by President Trump of the United States and below are my personal reasons;

  • Many in the developed world see Africa as a country like United States, Britain, France, Russia, China, Australia, Spain , Germany, India etc. Those folks see their countries as the world but since they have never traveled to Africa, they will never understand how enormous and huge Africa is. It is worthy to note that Africa is the most diverse continent in the world with over 50 countries, over 1500-2000 languages, over 3000 tribes, multi religion and culture, diverse climate etc
    According to Wikipedia;

Africa is the world's second largest and second most-populous continent (the first being Asia in both categories). At about 30.3 million km2 (11.7 million square miles) including adjacent islands, it covers 6% of Earth's total surface area and 20.4% of its total land area.

  • African immigrants in diaspora including in the United States has been contributing immensely to a lot of social and economic development in the countries of their residence. From Medicine, to Engineering, From IT to Teaching, Africans in diaspora has been very resourceful and providing a lot of expatriate professionals to the countries that need them.

  • Africa is a fast emerging market- Although Africa has been having issues with trade disparity due to import dependent economy, however, Africa today has been a hub for so many investors especially from Asian countries. In a recent article titled "Is Africa the next emerging market?" David McDonald, Founder at The Global Millennial postulated that;

A drastic shift towards financial sustainability is currently happening right now in Africa, which is leading many financial analysts to indeed, call it the next emerging market.
Now, I can’t see Africa (as a whole) growing as quickly as Asia or even Latin America, but the results we are seeing in this continent are promising.
What investors know about the continent is that it lacks advanced technological infrastructure, is prone to crime and corruption, and is considered to be a more “risky” investment than perhaps Asian markets.
However, as risk falls and telecommunication capabilities rise, Africa is quickly becoming a viable place for investment, especially when you take into account the production capabilities that come as a result of the world’s fastest growing population.

  • It may be true that aprox 47% of folks in Sub Sahara Africa live on less than $1.25 a day, however, African middle class is growing rapidly as one in every three Africans are seing as "middle class" More so, it should be noted that whilst many western economies are in economic crisis, the Economy of Africa continues to grow. Additionally, 6 of the 10 fastest growing economies in the world today are Africans"

-Growing Technological hub- Technological growth in Africa is increasing in geometrical progression leading to many investments from major global tech giants like Apple, Microsoft, Samsung, IBM etc. It may interest us to note that 80% of Africans people as in 2013 had access to mobile phone.

-Growing entertainment industry- According to African Business Central article titled "Meet Nigeria's Nollywood, the world's second largest movie industry"

Data that was released last year shows that Nollywood is a $3 billion industry. It is bigger than Hollywood by volume, and right behind India’s Bollywood.
In 1992, in Nigeria, electronics salesman Kenneth Nnebue shot a straight-to-video movie in one month, on a budget of just $12,000. Living in Bondage sold more than a million copies, mostly by street vendors, and Nollywood – Nigeria’s movie industry – was born.
By 2009, Nollywood had surpassed Hollywood as the world’s second largest movie industry by volume, right behind India’s Bollywood. And in 2014, the Nigerian government released data for the first time showing Nollywood is a $3.3 billion sector, with 1844 movies produced in 2013 alone.

_ Africa exports good music. Ofcourse, it is well know that Africa is a continent that loves good sounds and African music is enjoyed all over the world. More so, african artists has been receiving awards and recognition globally. Great musicians like Youssou N'dour of Senegal, Manu Dibango of Cameroon, Sunny Ade of Nigeria and many others both young and old are sharing positive vibes across the globe.

  • Africa is home to entrepreneurs- According to a guest writer for "Entrepreneur" magazine Obianuju Helen Okoye,

Africa is not a country. It is a continent bursting with jewels and ingenuity. Boasting several countries with the fastest growing global economies, the Sub-Saharan African region is a vast business ecosystem, with gems hidden under rough terrains. For the creative entrepreneurs I had the pleasure of interviewing, the secret lies in the digging. Here are their stories.

  • Rich in mineral deposit- African is greatly endowed with very rich mineral deposit or natural resources and home to most of the worlds mineral deposit, fertile soils and excellent climatic conditions. However, although the continent is blessed with Diamonds, Gold, Oil, Uranium, Platinum and many other valuable resources, it is a truism that its inhabitants are among the poorest which is a topic of another day. The good news however is a lot of proactive measures are on going in changing this trend and the future is bright in that regard thanks to the use of e-government and governance in the public sector, better access to education and a more viable youth that are becoming more politically aware, things are changing fast and the political class are now more citizens responsive.

_ Africa is also one of the Worlds friendliest continents and also excellent climate for tourists and Agriculture. Africans are very welcoming people and their brothers keepers as such, extended family is common where folks look out for their relatives and friends and share things in common. More so, the African soil is very fertile and crops can be grown all year round being that the climate is friendly too for farming.

Africans are great steemians. With these few points I listed above, it is without fear or contradiction that I debunk the notion from my beloved leader and respectable President that "Africa is a shithole continent"

Thank you for this post @kenhudoy. Is really sad, that many of theses western countries see Africa as "shithole". I completely agree with you.
The irony of it all is that the socalled shithole is rich in culture, agriculture, minerals.... The Africa i see is the future of tomorrow, rich in heritage and culture. Sadly, the African leaders have refuse to give the one thing that African's lacks, Good Education, opportunity for creativity to grow. And talents to be nutured and developed.

always on point @ceepee and am glad to be following so we together ensure we educate many steemians who care to learn about the potentials Africa got and not the misinformation they have. Yes African leaders are the problems of Africa. Expired old men who hold on to power at all cost but the good news is bad things never last forever. I see Africa that will rise and grow faster than the Asian tigers. I see a great Africa...Viva Africa!

The part of Africa that my boyfriend is from is nice, probably even a lot nice than the part of the UK that I live in

good one dear and what part of africa are we looking at;) have you been to Africa? if so where and when.

I don't think Africa is a shithole, Africa is a blessed continent, with great people. They only lack visionary leaders, That is why someone like president Trump will make such statement. nice work.

Sure and I don't blame Trump for his remark, I blame Africa leaders

Definitely a lot here that I wasn't aware of. My perception of Africa is that it's a continent they has well and truly been pillaged and ruined by the west.

It's good to see they're starting to rebuild and recover.

Sure. Most of Africas woes was initiated by the West a the wars inclusive. That's for the comment

This is a detailed and good post about Africa...keep up the good work

thanks as always!

africa as a continent may have been the richest since early life ages.(diamonds,oil,goods etc)Donald Trump should read more history.The fact that the west took advantage of all the value doesn't change the fact of what it was.

Couldn't agree with you more. Thanks for the comment

just speaking the truth.great post.keep writing quality posts @kenhudoy they are amazing!

Thanks and updated new today

Africa is not a shithole, they have abundant human and natural resources but they lack visionary leaders.

Yeah and I think Trump should direct the shit hole to african leaders only

This a really great positive post. There many other things about Africa that the world doesn't know but what I can say for now is most colonialists who lived in Africa were not so keen to leave. Im my country, Zimbabwe, opportunies are numerous for foreigners to own land, do agriculture, get mining claims and even start completely new industries!
