African-Renaissance #4: Kill procrastination

in african-renaissance •  6 years ago

Cheikh Anta Diop was the first to come up with the concept of African-Renaissance in his series of essays collected in his book Towards the African Renaissance: Essays in Culture and Development, 1946-1960. It became popular thanks to the South African ex-president Thabo Mbeki.

African-Renaissance is the campaign to overcome the current challenges that Africans and continent in general, are confronting to achieve the cultural, scientific and economic rebirth.

From here I got an idea of sharing thoughts under African-Renaissance to just influence not only Africans but also people who want to rebirth with minds of winners (Brain metamorphosis).

All you need is getting the thoughts and use them to rethink by yourself.

Procrastination is the major enemy of success. More than 7 billions of people are running after this thing called success, however, it requires hard work, a lot of sacrifices and developing new habits.

You usually encounter that feeling telling you to rest, you will do that later, you can do it tomorrow, it's not close to the deadline... Yeah, that's normal to encounter such feelings but if you want to sit together with winners you have to kill your enemy, procrastination.

One of the things that influence procrastination is thinking of how huge and hard a task is. You're seeing the whole book you have to read or write, the whole work report you have to finish however it's not necessary to finish reading or writing a book in one day or write a full report in one hour.

Solution: Split tasks, if it is a book you can write a page or read a page today another tomorrow and after a week it may be a full chapter. You will fail if you wait until your brain becomes happy and ready to read or write a book in a moment.

Researches have shown that people who achieve a high level of success are the ones who do small things daily or periodically but continually towards their vision.

Another thing that influences procrastination is lack of organization and planification. When your work environment is not organized and work not planned you feel like wanting to postpone or delegating your tasks.

Solution: To overcome the above problem you have to plan tasks, organize the work. You will see how quick and enjoyable the work is.

As a conclusion, you have to know that book is not going to write or read itself, the report is not going to write itself. You have to set small tasks that you finish and feel proud of yourself. Greatest achievers set small tasks that together will help them to achieve their vision.
