Planting is an important sector which is overlooked by Nigeria. If you ask me I would say that every living person has the responsibility of planting and growing a tree. Unlike most countries that practice mechanised farming thereby reducing the amount of human power needed in the farm, most Agricultural operation in Nigeria are still done manually, hence the need for human labour.

WHY WE SHOULD ALL PAY ATTENTION TO PLANTING

Nigeria is one of the most populated country in the world and is the most populated country in Africa. Various estimations has it that by 2050, Nigeria would be the third most populated country in the world with a population of about 278 million people. You should have it in mind that when land is constant and water is constant but the population is growing, there will be more mouth to feed and needs to meet. If everyone doesn't start planting now, 2050 will be hell for Nigerians as the heads to feed will surpass the present production.

The cry about Ozone Layer destruction might seem like a joke to many but it's real. The constant release of harmful gases to the environment worsens the condition and there are many companies that release untreated gas to the air. Trees help to reduce Ozone level and require carbon, helping to remove carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from the air, which cools the earth and releases enough oxygen to sustain human beings.

Trees beautifies our environment. Research also has it that the view of trees help patients recover faster and helps students accumulate better.

What about our lands so prone to erosion? We need these trees to reduce erosion, maintain water level cycles, clean the soil and control storm.

There are a million and one reasons we should grow trees. We don't need to own plots of land before we can achieve this, all we need is to create a small garden in our backyard, plant in buckets, appreciate people into farming and lots more. The future generation depends on us, what will the shape of this country take when we present it to them?
Think!!!
