ahmadmanga Picks #5 | Contests, Classics and Freewriters

in ahmadmangadaily •  7 years ago

Focusing on two different niches Gaming/Fiction, bringing to you posts from all over steemit. Even with a cover image like this, I focused more on #writing than #gaming today.

Salam (Peace)

Being busy and not posting yesterday, I spent a lot of time today talking about writing and if #freewrite is good for steemit, looking from both sides, I haven't come up with a conclusion yet.

I can see if someone posted whatever their mind produced in 5 minutes without edits steemit will be full of "bad writing posts that pretend to be masterpieces" will be similar to fanfiction websites (Good stories can be found but good luck finding them.) The problem? Even if you're amazing, no reader will come to you if you're compared to many amateurs on the same website.

Anyway these my Daily Picks where I comment on some of steemit posts I read (almost) everyday. If you're new to @ahmadmanga Picks please read The Announcement Post to know the intended audience of my Daily Picks and about the rating system used here (Clarity/Novelty/Fun.)

Gaming contest! Tell me about a game that you like to play and win SBD!

#Gaming #ContestABA~380wrds

It's a contest where you have to tell him about a game you like, it can be on any system (PC/PS4/XBOX1/Older consoles.) But the challenge is to convince @ferow to buy a game with your speech. He also replies with opinion on every comment so it's a really good contest. Prize pool is 3 SBD.

3 Iconic 3D Games that did it First on the Super Nintendo (SNES)

#RetrogamingAAS~650wrds

As a child my first gaming system was a Playstation 1, I only knew about SNES as I became older and had access to internet (SEGA was more popular in Libya.) So after seeing a lot of its games, I thought that SNES was incapable of 3D.

This post proved me wrong, I thought I'll find some 2.5D games like DOOM in it, but the three games mentioned: Stunt Race FX, Vortex and Star Fox are all true, interesing, (Low Poly) THREE! DIMENSIONAL! GAMES! Read the post for more, though I wish @deeviras included some screenshots rather than the game covers.

Freewrite is Not Writing for Publishing

#Fiction #FreewriteSSB~300wrds

@writerwithin: What possesses so many people to toss out their scraps and call it writing? Or, should I say, publish them and call it a post?

As occasional freewriter I think @writerwithin states a very good point. Due to the short time of them, much of the result of #freewrite results are bad pieces that needs some edits to become good. I still find some value in these attempts but this post reminded me of my old fear of steemit's #fiction tag becoming like a fanfiction ground. My freewrites will change from now on.

@writerwithin: why would you not explore what you’ve written and shape it into something that you can be proud of? You may actually have a gem of flash-fiction or the start of an epic short story.

Classics (Poetry)

#PoetryAAASHORT

This short poetry by @tinypaleokitchen is about classic books, it's interesting how to interpret it. While its short and unintended (wasn't written as a poem but sounded like one.) Its beautiful to read.

One of the reasons I'm including this here is her talk about @thewritersblock team, a hard working group dedicated to make everyone's writing better. If you want to improve yourself and are willing to spend every effort learning then this place is for you.

Honorable Mentions:

"Why Does Tiny Teach?"
@tinypaleokitchen talks about her life, being a mod at @thewritersblock and her teaching writers for free. She deserves every love you can send her way. (Post is past payout.)

@squidkid's "She Remembered Caterpillars Review."
A charming indie puzzler full of sadness. #Gaming

@aymenz's "' Aegis Defenders ' Game Review"
I mentioned another @aymenz review in the previous daily. I didn't know about this game before and it seems interesting from the review.

"10 Video Game So Good That Other Games HAD To Copy"
I don't know if @skullsoccer owns the video (didn't say he did in his post and account names are different.) But the video is VERY good and I learned about some new games from it (and info about ones I knew.)

~ Hope you liked today's Collection ~

What do you think about the whole free-writing deal?
