Robot swarms searching for targets

How do you feel about this research? It's useful and scary depending on it's application. As we know the military is interested in swarm tech. At the same time everyone could benefit from a decentralized search engine (multi-agent swarms). How would we build such a technology in a way which is both helpful and safe?

      If used for constructive things, swarms could be wonderful, but you know we always develop weapons first ;(

        If the swarm has a remote kill switch that causes them all to crash, that would be good.

        Unless their AI becomes to powerful and they disable their own kill switches.

          This is the future of warfare. Our next generation of soldiers will be people skilled at playing real time strategy games like Starcraft.

          One person can control a whole fleet of airplanes. An entire army could be controlled by a room full of superstar gamers.

          In that world, South Korea would be a powerhouse.
