Sophia Robot and Erica Android

in ai •  7 years ago

I have been commently mainly in the past about Sophia (Hanson Robotics) but unfortunately have been neglecting the work of Hiroshi Ishiguro (mainly because I cannot speak Japanese). Here is an opportunity to see both AI in a single video.

The commentator at the end questions Erica's ability to express emotions. Humans themselves do not consistently express emotions nor do some do it very well. I am uncertain if it is necessary for items with designed intelligence to experience emotions as humans do. A dog is capable of expressing emotions - happiness and sadness - but there is not they don't seem to express some emotions that humans are capable of- hubris or schadenfreude. It is possible that designed intelligences might be capable of emotions that we are incapable of conceiving.

Neither Sophia nor Erica have advanced to this level but I am encouraged that Erica can speak Canadian eh...

She is so impressive! She's responding to questions! Sure her skin when looked at close up looks off but it doesn't look horrible. She's a huge step forward in androids if you ask me. @dwarrilow2002

As technology advances, the soft tissues of non-organics will approach the composition of the soft tissues of organics when necessary. The real advantage that androids will have over humans will be that they will be able to download their "consciousnesses" to other bodies. Someday an android will be able to watch the sunrise on Mercury or a sunset on Pluto.

I support you until the end very nice post @dwarrilow2002

haha I watched a nice video
