One time i got an Air BnB in Detroit, Michigan, and the owners of the house were four black, giant dudes -- no funny shit, their heights averaged at probably six foot five.
Upon initially stepping into their house, the biggest dude of the crew, Quinton Brown, seven foot easy and prefers to go by Teddy Bear– kindly greeted me with the utmost propriety and with the highest level of respect that i have ever witnessed in my whole entire lief
The other 3 niggas were almost equally as welcoming as Quinton, but not quite at his level. keep in mind that i'm asian, 5'10, shrimp gang, and spend most of my free time frequenting starbucks and buying gucci. So obviously when i see 4 big ass niggas, you already i got scared like the little asian boi i am despite their surpising kindness.
However, my fear towards their macho masculinity and dark blackness slowly, as time passed by, dwindle away, and i gradually assimilated to their lifestyle and accepted their paradoxic kindess.
The second i dropped my fear was the second i started enjoying my visit.
We played hop scotch, we did competivve tic tac toe, joyous follow the leader, and happy head-shoulder-knee-and-toes. We read harry potter, arthur books, excerpts from magic tree house, the bible. We watched finding nemo, blues clues, and that so raven.
We did many 10ier best friend tier activies -- Quinton and i even ended up cooking a scrumptious meal for the rest of the boiz.
i was one of them and they were apart of me.
what the point of all this is, never judge a book by its cover. Because if i had held on to my preformed complex
of the 4 jolly big black brothas, I would have never enjoyed airbnb stay in Detroit, Michigan.
In fact, I would have never enjoyed the most valuable time I had with the boiz -- the time they fiercely stabbed me in the back repeatedly with a number 2 pencil whilst threatening to kill me if my pants were not taken off so that they can all perform sodomy onto me simultaneously and then decapitate the living shit out of me.
Ahhhh, I love Detroit.
