As winter takes hold in the northeast I thought I would bring a touch of summer back to warm us a bit on these chilly days. One of Malcolm's favorite places to go (and mine too) is a local nature trail that runs for about a mile along a creek.
Malcolm loves to go in the water to cool off and wade around chasing the little fish he sees in the very clear water.
While wandering along the shore, we came across this birds nest. I don't know where it originally came from but someone was kind enough to place it in a safe spot away from the water so others walking here could enjoy seeing it.
I also saw this nifty froggy that I managed to get a quick photo of while Malcolm was distracted in the water. It wasn't long after that my puppers was ready to move on so I wasn't able to get a more detailed pic.
We also saw these beautiful purple flowers in our merry wandering this warm mid august day. I was far more interested than Malcolm was. Lucky for me he had plenty of interesting stuff to sniff near by.
I am truly grateful that I live close enough to visit such amazing examples of nature's artistry and beauty.
But now it is time to move on along the trail. There is much to see and more wandering to be done, and many things for the munchkin to sniff and explore.
As we emerge from the sun dappled tunnel of this neat yet invasive bamboo like plant that flourishes in wet soil along the creek the trail moves a bit away from the creek deeper into the woods and meadows that thrive here.
One of the first things you see as you emerge from the tunnel of foliage is one of my most favorite trees, this huge, majestic Weeping Willow.
From there we continued on to reach this lovely corridor of different types of flowers. For now though this is where I shall end this journey. I will save the the rest of Malcolm and I and our adventure for another winters day. I hope you enjoyed our warm summer memory of our fun travels! As always remember that it's all about the little things in life, and thanks for looking in! :)

Thank you, and he does! It is awesome and definitely one of our most favorite trails to wander. There are always new things to see everytime we go. Not so much at the moment though lol.. It would be nice if the weather out now matched the photos. ;p
