But this is not the only attack on our skin. Heaters dry out the air in poorly ventilated rooms even more and then there are the effects of the Christmas holiday diet. It happens very often that the skin feels tense, irritated and needs special care.
Here are a few gentle ways to effectively counteract the harshness of winter and get your skin healthy into the next spring - no matter what skin type you have.
Peeling without irritating the skin
If you notice flaky skin in winter, you are not alone. Many people suffer from it during the cold months. The use of a peeling can then cause concern, but there is no reason to do so, because not all peelings are the same. A gentle peeling with round cleansing grains removes dead skin flakes. In this way, care cream and oil can penetrate better and deeper into the skin and thus better develop their effect.
One drop of oil
In winter, it is a good idea to add a facial oil to your facial care to keep the moisture in the skin and protect it from the dry air. Simply massage 2-3 drops of the oil of your choice gently into clean, slightly moist skin. A facial oil as a supplement to the face cream can work wonders.

Nourish dry skin
Cracked lips or hands are a common ailment that occurs in many people in winter. Dry skin needs moisture all day long to regenerate itself. While the right skin care products provide the skin with moisture from the outside, we also have to provide it with moisture from the inside. Therefore, it is essential to drink enough in winter. Good are water, green tea or fruit juices without added sugar. Avoid alcohol and coffee, as they have a draining effect.
Certain foods also help to keep the skin in balance. These include all those that are rich in unsaturated fatty acids, i.e. nuts, seeds, salmon, etc. A good supply of vitamin A is also important. This is found mainly in colorful fruits and vegetables.
Reduce showering time
As nice as it is to sing in the shower and take your time, hot water quickly extracts valuable moisture from the skin. Water on the skin evaporates and takes the valuable natural oils with it, which make the skin elastic and smooth. It is best to shower for a maximum of 15 minutes and only with lukewarm water.
Also remember to use only gentle soaps, shower gels and co. In winter the skin is already strained anyway, so we don't have to irritate it further with harsh washing solutions. The best products are those without alcohol or fragrances, but which contain skin-caring substances.
Immediately after showering, it is also a good idea to apply an oil-based cream to prevent the skin from drying out. Products with avocado oil and/or shea butter are ideal for this.
The right clothes
Dry skin suffers from scratchy substances and when exposed to the elements without protection. We should protect our skin in winter from wind and, many forget, also from sun. It is best to put on several layers, then you can adjust to the temperature. Be careful not to wear irritating, rough fabrics. Cotton and silk are best, so that the skin can breathe. Remember also to wash the clothes with mild detergents to avoid unwanted skin reactions.
With these gentle, winter-adapted changes in skin care, even a radiantly beautiful, healthy skin in winter is no rocket science.
