This surprised me.

I'm not surprised that more Republicans feel things are worse now than in 1973, but 5:1? And more Dems agree than disagree.

In 1973, we were under threat of nuclear annihilation any day, the Vietnam war draft had just ended, and Nixon had just "won" re-election and the Watergate trials were under way. Women were just barely entering the workforce on semi-equal footing. Pollution of everything was a problem - air, water, you name it. Crime was a real problem. The arab oil embargo was starting, setting up a recession and setting the stage for the malaise of the late 70s...and disco and the bicentenial were just around the corner.

I was only baby at the time, but I remember enough that there is NO WAY I would go back. And that's as a white male from an upper middle class family. I can't imagine a female or non-white preferring those days.

WTF?
