The wonderful educators molding & supportingthe American children.
What really happened the morning i dropped out of Brownsville Area High School & the weeks to come.
Some of the details are a little fuzzy, as far as what the exact month this took place but as to what happened that morning I will never forget.
It was about 8:30, 1/4 till 9am, I was running late that morning & had to go to the office 1st to sign in, there was the secretary & Phil Savini in th. Well as I was standing there Phil came over to me & said (I quote) Nathan why do you even try, why don't you just drop out.
Now I might have not been the smartest kid but I'm far from stupid, just was never pushed or had teacher's that eather didn't care or didn't see my potential.
(anyway this isn't about that & I passed my GED above average & went on to get an accoaiate degree)
Back to the office & Phil, well after he was finished basically calling me a failure with no future & having me convinced that he was right he proceeds to get a tablet (not a proper document or anything official) sheet of basic lined paper & tells me to write the following
" I (my name) Nathan John Musisko am dropping out of Brownsville Area High School " then sign & date it, & that was it I was officially no longer a student at Brownsville.
Now at this point you would think that was it end of story, not quite.
Well if any of you know my parents and the home I was raised you know that this isn't going to fly at all, well there was no way in hell I was going home to tell them what I just did so I put that off till later that evening.
So evening rolls around & the inevitable have to come clean and confess to my stupidity, so after getting an ear beating & realizing what a mistake I made came to the conclusion that I had to call & get my ass back in rolled. Next day I spoke with Phil & explained how I made a mistake and wanted to finish & graduate he (without hesitation) told me no I couldn't come back, but I could write a letter to the school board, (guess who was on that committee) i don't have to tell you how well that worked. Now at this point our soft more year ended & I would have to attend summer school to make up credits to even be a senior the following so I enrolled in Connisvilles summer school program in which I would have to basically spend 3 days a week the entire brake. I stuck with it but when it was definit that I wasn't going to be able to attend Brownsville & would have to graduate from Connisville I lost all ambition & quit then immediately enrolled for GED classes in Uniontown & had to take a pre test to evaluate what classes I needed to work on before taking the test (everyone is required to take & attend classes) well when I returned a day or 2 later for the results & for a schedule of classes the instructor told me I was ready for the test now but he wasn't permitted to give the actual test but on pre scheduled dates and he would see me then. Needless to say I passed it on the above average end of the spectrum.
Well thanks for taking the time to read & maby put a real story behind what may be just brushed aside & misunderstood as just another high school burn out deadbeat drop out, & maby just maby have at least help one person by having people think & understand how 1 persons actions or position can affect someone else's life. Not to mention the mental and emotional factors.
