Finnish Amorphis have finished recording what will be their next work.
It will be called "Queen Of Time" and is scheduled for release on May 18 through Nuclear Blast. The album will include the use of real strings, flutes, orchestral arrangements and some choirs. It will be the first time that people will be able to listen to their lyricist Pekka Kainulainen on a record, as it will contribute with a speech at the end. It will be the first work with Olli-Pekka 'Oppu' Laine again in the band after the departure of Niclas Etelävuori.
Holopainen comments:
I guess "Queen Of Time" has become a big surprise for all of us. During the rehearsals and preproduction, we had no idea that Jens (Bogren) had a huge image inside his head about the panoramic view that the album would have. It is a very natural continuation of "Under The Red Cloud" but with steroids. The songs are more aggressive but they are more dynamic, harmonic and orchestral. The result is Amorphis as they have never heard it before. Essentially working with Jens has worked very well. As a person, it is very similar to us, we share the same kind of absurd humor and we like to work hard.
It was produced by Jens Bogren and the artwork on the cover was created by Jean "Valnoir" Simoulin:
