Remember the Great Taxation-is-Theft Meme Proliferation of 2016? Those were heady times. Thousands of images were shared millions of times on Reddit and Facebook and elsewhere on the web, all proclaiming a truth that the average person refuses to accept.
Some minds and hearts were changed, and a lot of statists got all red in the face trying to defend government roads and indoctrination camps. Someone even changed the Wikipedia definition of "tax" to reflect the reality, though that didn't last long. And we all sat back and laughed and laughed because if you don't laugh, you'll probably cry over how much of your life has been confiscated by the Powers that Never Should Have Been.
Well, I thought a bit of a reminiscence might be in order. I've still got some of those dank memes stashed here and there, and I'm going to share them with you. Some of them I made myself, and some were made by anonymous internet heroes. Some you'll definitely remember, and hopefully there will be one or two you missed back during the Great Proliferation. But each and every one of them is a precious memento of a brief moment in time when, as anarchists, voluntaryists, agorists, and libertarians, we felt like the kings of the rusty-ass monkey bars of political discourse. Let that moment live on in our hearts, now and always.
Thank you for reliving the Great Proliferation with me. I dedicate this post to the constant kindling of the flame of antiauthoritarianism within us, and to the eventual abolition of slavery by the end of the state. (May it occur as soon as possible.)
