Rodney has to have a bath to keep himself hydrated. He gets hydrated every other day. When it is warm he likes to have one daily but only for twenty minutes to half an hour.
Arrrr he is a cutie. He's a Russian Horsefield tortoise and not too big,he's about 6 inches long in the shell. Not sure how old he is. I have only had him 3 months...a hand me down from a friend but i have learnt a lot about him in the short time and chances are he will outlive me 😔i have to leave him to someone in my will 😊
Aww.. I'm sure you both will have a long and prosperous life full of friendship and bath time ;) What does he eat? Where does he live? Like does he have a separate little home? I'm so curious.. never seen anyone that has a tortoise as a pet.
He eats, leafy things like lettuce, dandelion(a favourite),certain flowers are the main source of this type of tortoises diet. He's allowed some fruit about once a week, as a treat, but he loves the naughty things in life more than the leafy good things, as we probably all do hahar His favourite it sweet pepper,blueberries and banana, gets it all over his face!! At the moment he lives in his tortoise table indoors, it has to be warmer than it is at the moment for his outside house but i have recently spent £75 on a nice outside house for him,he went out last week as it was a sneaky 20 odd degrees but he was a bit dehydrated after that. So had to bath him every day instead of every other or every third day. I let him out downstairs for a walk about if he is awake when i get home from work. He finds a place and goes to sleep so i retrieve him the next morning and put him by his heat lamp to warm up. Heat and light is very important. He's got quite a character on him and no fear at all!

Damn! Isn't he a lucky tortoise?? That out house looks sweet... Looks like he needs more care than human beings. Well done for managing to keep up.. I'm sure it's not that easy. And ya thanks for the info... now I know a lot more about his diet, regime and more importantly his love for fruits :D He is one cool tortoise for sure. Rock on Rodney!
He likes music too!unless he is just curious, but when he is roaming downstairs he always lingers by the cd player when it is on haha and i have to keep eye on him outside, his breed is notorious for being a great escape artist!! 😊
I must admit he hasn't heard rock music yet, i'm sure he will though. He's more into his hip hop haha and don't be fooled by the myth of the slow tortoise... his last name is Gonzarlist for a damn good reason! When he is fully charged up from his heat lamp he is a fast little fella 😁and he always likes to meet a new face haha
