One of the more interesting small birds I found in lower Austria is "The Red baked shrike", it hunts from prominent perches, and impales corpses on thorns or barbed wire as a "larder." This practice has earned it the nickname of "butcher bird. I have already found it on several locations here in Austria and managed to take several pictures of this bird. There is a significant higher number of this bird in the eastern part of Austria (Provinces of Lower Austria, Vienna, Burgenland) but I also found it at the provinces of Upper Austria and Salzburg.
