Long-tailed skua in the mountain

in animalphotography •  7 years ago  (edited)

In Norway the bird is called Fjelljo. In Northern Norway they nestles in the mountains and laying two spotted olive-brown eggs. During the winter they are far offshore in the southern Atlantic. This bird feeds on fish (mainly caught from other seabirds), smaller birds, food scraps, small mammals, fruit and carrion.
The bird is a great flyer and fun to observe. These pictures I got in the mountain near where I live. I hope I'll see someone this summer too.

Best regards
Harald

These are such majestic looking birds. A long tail in flight reminds me of a stingray. Great job!

Thank you, they are fascinating birds and nice to meet on hike.

You will become famous one day for all your great quality pictures!! Love it

LOL :D

You can laugh all you want, but you’ll eventually see that I’m right 😉😉

Wow, great. Looking at your photos makes you feel a little happier. 👍🏻😄💁🏼‍♀️

Great, and then I feel myself a little happier. 😊 Thank you.

They are all great photos, but the one where the bird is flying is superb. What a gorgeous looking bird.

Thank you, I like that too :-)

what kind of lenses are you using, must almost be pro-equipment?

Thank you for reply. On these pictures I used Canon 7D. The lens is 70-200 mm f/4.0 L. So you have right, the lens is very good with great sharpens and colour:-).

Wow, that tail in flight, just beautiful!

Thank you. I like that best too.
