A Gun, A Horse and a Mule

in animalphotography •  7 years ago

my favorite type of fishing guiding trip is called a "fish and ride". This is where the guests ride into the back country (no roads, wilderness) on horseback and then are guided in fly fishing for a bit, eat a packed lunch and then ride back to a ranch for dinner. It's fun, but you may be traveling through grizzly bear country. A 44 Magnum is a good defensive weapon to deter them in the rare event of an attack, which is even rarer on horseback. Better to have and not need than to need and not have, I always say. Mules are smart and like to hang around horses and they make good pack animals.

You must be up by Cody or Yellowstone?

a little lower, but you are warm

I would say that the possibility of old griz would definitely add some perspective to a fishing trip. Did you catch any fish? Love your handle by the way. Trout music is definitely my kind of tune. Best!...

thanks @huntbook! oh yeah that was a catching spot more than a fishing spot!

Yup, I have a few of those kind of spots. Tell us more, anytime...
