A lot of people are afraid of geese because they chase and hiss, but these babies were extremely friendly. A lot of them are Chinese geese which are known to be very tame. These geese were abandoned at the Verde Village pond, which is an artificial pond constructed decades ago. These are domestic geese and ducks living here, meaning they were bred to rely on humans for all their needs, food, shelter, safety. They cannot fly away in order do forage for food or escape predators. Many domestic ducks and geese are left to fend for themselves after people purchase them from farm stores for Easter baskets and cute pets for kids. When the birds get too big to handle they're dumped. It's very sad because overpopulation occurs, and with that comes malnutrition, especially when people only feed them bread which is very unhealthy for them, it's junk food basically. These babies all belong on a farm or a homestead witch people who can give them a proper feed. I wish I could save them all.
