Vultures

When I was still working my morning walk would take me down a side street leading to a shopping plaza. On that side street was the dumpster for an Asian takeout restaurant and more than a dozen black vultures would gather. I always assumed they were turkey vultures before I looked up the differences. My sister can’t stand them because they’re not the pretty ones that gather at her bird feeders but I’ve grown to love them. They’re designed with a purpose and they serve it well.

When I first moved back to Stony Point I would see them behind the Aldi grocery store perched on the edge of the building. They looked ominous had to take a pic. It got me a few likes on Instagram. It has been months since I've seen them around town but there were plenty at the Bear Mountain Zoo inside the bear pit. When I saw the birds on the building again I took another pic.
