Stoat (Herpestidae) is a family of 33 species of small carnivorous mammals from southern Eurasia and large African soil.
Mats commonly eat insects, crabs, earthworms, lizards, snakes, chickens, and rodensia. However, they also eat eggs and carrion.
A surprising finding came at a short training session for the forest guard community held by Fauna & Flora International (FFI) at Jantho Wildlife Reserve, Aceh.
In the workshop the use of hidden cameras that lasted for three days, the team actually managed to capture photographs of mammals that are unusual and not known by local forest rangers. Animals like the golden yellow weasel is larger than a regular civet. It is more like a mink (Herpestes semitorquatus), but with a very rare color.
This species itself was previously recorded in Sumatra, but only a few times seen. Therefore, by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), it is recorded as data deficient, or species that can not be ascertained its status, due to minimal data available.
