Truthfully, I was interested in how the media and law treat someone based on status. I wonder if he was treated differently at all during his sentence for his bit of fame (I am not sure of his status in Japan actually and mangaka in general.)

Personally, I think if this happened a bit closer to home (western world) we probably wouldn't find anyone wanting to publish again but I guess in Japan their stance on the issue is different and perhaps there is some missing context I have missed.

While I can agree on factors which influence art, I find story writing is sometimes a direct reflection of an authors mind. Some even refuse to continue or finish their work lol,
