I read a lot of complaints about this episode and I can honestly say that some of them surprise me. However, at least I have already understood what the criticism of the animated adaptation of ToG is. I don't mind rushhing action, because it just happens to the creators from the beginning, and certainly incomparably worse than the MadHouse and David Production studios. From the beginning, these chapters have added many chapters to their adaptations of this type of manga and most of the episodes came out much better. This is what I do over the director's average experience.
Before I wrote this post, I took another look at the opinion on episode 9 of Anonymous Gaal (Facebook fanpage) that reads WebToon and in the comments, I found some information from the interview with the anime director. I do not know the guy and after what I read, I am curious about who he is, but he wrote something about the need to flatten anime because it is deeply rooted in Korean culture, etc. audience groups. Sure, the mass audience also counts here, but the story of the Divine Tower, making dreams come true, closeness to God, the desire for his power, and the like are very universal. I do not want to speak about other cultures, but if there are similarities in the field of Gods, prayers, or meditation (both things are basically very similar, I could even risk saying that they are the same) in virtually every developed culture, then such things should be understood by everyone. At least, more or less, because we know that each society has its own nuances and certain things may look different.
It is true that I do not have big reservations for this episode, except for the very conspicuous rush of scenes, but I do not like his attitude. Since he has time to develop things from the webtoon that are apparently not so important, why can't he develop fights? I thought it was Siu who presented them so poorly, because at the beginning he didn't know how to draw and present his thoughts, and here it turns out that it was the fault of excessive cutting the original. Don't get me wrong, these are still interesting fights, but from what I read on the internet, those in the Korean comic were much better. While in the previous episodes it didn't bother me so much, the first fight with (as Quant quantified) God should be a big event, and the redhead limited himself to a few simple techniques. Sure, he is not a very smart guy, but he fights well. True, his opponents were not very demanding, but they were not complete without a chance. Under favorable circumstances, they could hurt him, at least as part of this test with its power limiters.
It's nice that Bam and Rachel finally got closer. I'm curious how this relationship will go on and how it will compare to the grand finale of the first season. I hope that we will learn something more in episode 10 and not just be limited to a short, up to 2-minute scene. I had forgiven them this before because there was no need, and now it just has to happen. In addition, the scene when the princess gets a bitchslap in the face for her betrayal was mega good :3.
