I'm a dude. And when I watch anime, I often want to see all-out battles and heroes rising to the occasion in an aggressive confrontation. So imagine my surprise when I was introduced to a cute little anime by the name of Princess Tutu and was absolutely blown away and mesmerized.
Don't let the cutesy art fool you: Princess Tutu is one of the strangest and most dramatic anime you could ever hope to see. Borrowing heavily from The Ugly Duckling, Swan Lake, and to a lesser extent The Nutcracker and building on top of a fairy tale story world, the story of Princess Tutu revolves around a little duckling who is transformed into a princess in order to save the broken heart of a prince.
It's difficult to talk about the anime without revealing any of the awesome twists and turns in the series, but suffice to say this: this anime will surprise you. Doesn't sound like you'd like it? Watch it anyway. You won't regret it.
