The official website for the television anime of Sōichirō Yamamoto's Teasing Master Takagi-san (Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san) manga confirmed on Saturday that director Hiroaki Akagi is returning from the first season to helm the second season at Shin-Ei Animation. He thanked the fans for supporting the anime and making the second season possible. He asked fans to look forward to the second season which will have "slight tweaks." He also drew an illustration to commemorate the news of the new season:
Rie Takahashi and Yuuki Kaji, the voices of the titular character Takagi-san and Nishikata, respectively, confirmed that they are also returning for the second season.
The website for Shogakukan's Monthly Shonen Sunday magazine had teased last month that the magazine would have an important announcement on January 12.
Yamamoto launched the manga in Gessan mini, the accompanying booklet to Gessan (Monthly Shonen Sunday), in 2013. After Yamamoto finished serializing his Fudatsuki no Kyōko-chan manga in Gessan in June 2016, Teasing Master Takagi-san moved to Gessan in July 2016.
The first television anime premiered within the "Anime no Me" programming block in January 2018, and it also adapted Yamamoto's Ashita wa Doyōbi manga as segments within the show. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan, and Funimation streamed the series with an English dub.

Shogakukan published the manga's ninth compiled book volume in July 2018, and it bundled an original video anime adaptation of the manga chapter "Water Slide." The manga's 10th volume will shipped February 12. As of February 2018, the series has more than 4 million copies in digital sales and in print copies. Yen Press is releasing the manga in English.
