Almost forty years it was done by Honda. Development began in the 80's with a series of Honda E-Series, in the 90's appeared Honda P-Series. The P-Series was the first humanoid robot to walk without wires.
These projects were an integral part of the evolution of Honda, which led to the presentation of Asimo in 2000. With some updates, the modern model of 2014, with a height of about one and a half meters, weighs about 50 kg. She is fully capable of maneuvering independently, avoiding obstacles and can even bring you coffee at your request.
The goal of Honda is to integrate tools to help people in Asimo. With his artificial intelligence, the robot is able to perceive the requests of the person and react accordingly. The sensors in his hands are able to estimate the amount of force necessary to hold the object: for example, Asimo can unscrew a tightly seated lid from a coffee can or raise a paper cup without crushing it.
