"LEFT BEHIND" RAPTURE" Where Dispensational Premillennialists like Tim Lahaye get his nonsense
by Tuese Ahkiong

Yeshua's words on the rapture:
John 17:15 I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.

Here is why I believe Tim Lahaye is a Scripture twister and deluded. Lahaye has so twisted the minds of Christians into believing that they will one day "soon" be sucked off the earth to heaven and unbelievers left behind to eat God's wrath. Study below where he gets his "left behind" fantasy and flips and twists the Scripture pretty much upside down. Btw, he sure is making BIG money on distorting Scripture.

Matt 24.34-41

34 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.
35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
36 “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.

37 For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
38For as in those days before the flood THEY were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark,
39and THEY were unaware until the flood came and TOOK them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
40Then two men will be in the field; one will be TAKEN and one LEFT.
41 Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be TAKEN and one LEFT.

**Who are the "they" in v 38? Is it not those outside the ark eating and drinking?
This is where you say, "yes."

Who gets taken away by the flood or into judgment?
The evil peeps outside the ark.

So, at the coming of the Son of Man v37,39 which Yeshua said would happen in His generation v 4-34, who gets TAKEN AWAY, according to this passage?
A: The evil unbelieving folk get taken away in judgment by The Roman Armies.

Christians were LEFT BEHIND to shine like the sun!

Matthew 13:24-29
24 He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field, 25 but while his men were sleeping, HIS ENEMY CAME AND SOWED WEEDS among the wheat and went away. 26 So when the plants came up and bore grain, THEN THE WEEDS APPEARED also. 27 And the servants of the master of the house came and said to him, ‘Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? HOW THEN DOES IT HAVE WEEDS?’ 28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ So the servants said to him, ‘Then do you want us to go and gather them?’29 But he said, ‘No, lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them. 30 Let both grow together UNTIL THE HARVEST, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, GATHER THE WEEDS FIRST and BIND THEM IN BUNDLES TO BE BURNED, but GATHER THE WHEAT INTO MY BARN.’”

Matthew 13:36-43
36 Then he left the crowds and went into the house. And his disciples came to him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the field.” 37 He answered, “The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, and the good seed is the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one, 39 and the enemy who sowed them is the devil. THE HARVEST IS THE END OF THE AGE, AND THE REAPERS ARE ANGELS. 40 JUST AS THE WEEDS ARE GATHERED AND BURNED WITH FIRE, SO WILL IT BE AT THE END OF THE AGE. 41 The Son of Man will SEND HIS ANGELS, AND THEY WILL GATHER OUT OF HIS KINGDOM ALL CAUSES OF SIN AND ALL LAW-BREAKERS, 42 AND THROW THEM INTO THE FIERY FURNACE. IN THAT PLACE THERE WILL BE WEEPING AND GNASHING OF TEETH. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears, let him hear.

**What Age was Yeshua and His disciples in?
A: The Old Covenant Age Galatians 4:4But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law,

What happened at the end of the age?
A: The Harvest

Who were the reapers?
A: Angels or another definition is messengers who proclaim The Gospel to bring the lost into God’s House.

Who was gathered out of Christ’s Kingdom?
A: Weeds, all causes of sin and all law-breakers.

Where do they go?
A: They are thrown into the fiery furnace to be burned.

What happened to the righteous?
A: Christians were left behind to shine like the sun! They were gathered into Christ’s barn, the place Christ went to prepare, His Father’s House. –John 14:2-3
Daniel 12:1-3 “At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has charge of your people. And there shall be a time of trouble, such as never has been since there was a nation till that time. But at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone whose name shall be found written in the book. 2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky above;and those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.

Philippians 2:15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,

This is the clearest case for these verses I have seen.
But there is another verse to consider:

Matthew 24:30 "Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other."

Here, he is gathering his elect, not the weeds.

Your posts on this subject make a great case for the Preterist interpretation of these prophesies.
Nevertheless, there are a few things that tell us that the events of 70 AD are but a foreshadowing of the same events on a larger scale, as the Futurists hold. Thus, both interpretations are actually true. This demonstrates the concept of double fulfillment

Some of the things in the Olivet Discourse quoted above that did not happen in 70 AD include:

Zechariah 14:4
In that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south. You will flee by the valley of My mountains, for the valley of the mountains will reach to Azel; yes, you will flee just as you fled before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD, my God, will come, and all the holy ones with Him!

Matthew 24:22
"If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Messiah!' or, 'There he is!' do not believe it. For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you ahead of time. "So if anyone tells you, 'There he is, out in the wilderness,' do not go out; or, 'Here he is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it. For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather. "Immediately after the distress of those days" 'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.' "Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

The items in bold have not yet happened. Nor can they be merely symbolic. Jesus' ascension was a literal "going on the clouds" which we are told He will "come on the clouds" again in exactly the same way:

Acts 1:10
They were looking intently into the sky as He was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. “Men of Galilee, they said, “Why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen Him go into heaven.

Don't feel bad about this. The partial fulfillment in 70AD gives us dramatic evidence that Jesus knew what He was talking about and a vivid picture of what is still to come.

Thank you for your comments.

Yes, the elect were gathered in through the Gospel reapers like Paul.

Yes, Zechariah 14 and Matthew 24 were fulfilled.

Yes, Acts 1:10 was fulfilled, too.

With regards to your interpretation of Matthew 24: 34-41, you should have continued on to Matthew 24:42-44 which makes it clear who is being taken and by whom:

42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

Who is the Thief in this passage? The Son of Man (Jesus Christ). Who is He coming for? His possession, the bride or the church, who is betrothed to Him.

You can speculate all you like about what the taking or being left is all about, but you can't superimpose the flood onto the rapture because they are different events. The one thing they have in common is that God will save those whom He has chosen BEFORE the judgement event, and that is also in common with the Sodom and Gomorrah judgment. In both cases, those chosen to be saved left the scene of judgement beforehand, having been warned that the judgement was coming. In Noah's case, he had to build a boat first, in the case of Abraham and Lot, they just had to leave the city before the fire and brimstone fell.

The other question I would have for you, is why would the Roman Armies take away those who have not put their faith in Christ? Surely in that kind of scenario it is the Christians who would be persecuted as they were in the days of the Roman empire. So no, I don't agree with your analysis of the left behind passage in Matthew 24. Plus there are other scriptures which clearly teach that there is a rapture.

1 Thessalonians 4:
15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.
