How to Reduce Stress...With Your Sense of Taste

We live in a world that is fast-paced, busy, and filled with elements that can deliver a healthy dose of sensory overload.

People are trying to cram more and more into an already busy schedule, and all that they are really accomplishing is adding more and more layers of stress to their lives.

There comes a moment when a breaking point is reached, and that is when high anxiety and panic attacks can start to enter the picture.

There are many people who assume that panic attacks are for those who have had some sort of traumatic experience in their life, but the reality is that they can affect anyone who has become overburdened with stress.

There are countless medications designed to help with stress and anxiety, but with all the side effects that they can deliver, a more natural approach to the problem is warranted.

Each of your 5 senses plays a role in the stress delivery system, so doesn’t it make sense that they might also be useful when trying to live a calmer existence.

Taste is one sense that we all love, as it can deliver a myriad of feelings with a single drop on the tongue, and it may also be one of the keys to keeping stress and panic attacks at bay.

Many of the foods and drinks that we ingest on a daily basis are jam packed with chemicals designed to enhance the taste of the product.

The truth is that organic foods taste good enough on their own, and we simply don’t need all those additives to get the flavors we crave.

The effects of processed foods are evident on our waistlines as well, but what about the areas of the body we can’t see.

Who knows what effects they may having on the brain.

Caffeine is a perfect example of this. Yes, it can help give you a sudden burst of energy, but it can also leave you feeling edgy and jittery, which is not the perfect state for someone prone to panic attacks.

You have probably heard how people use essential oils and aromatherapy for relaxation... well just as our sense of smell can be used for a calming effect, so can our sense of taste.

There are a host of different herbal teas that are commonly used to help fight the symptoms of anxiety and depression, and let’s not forget Bach Flower remedies ..which have been around now for close to 100 years, and are still considered to be an excellent all-natural approach to preventing anxiety and panic attacks.

When talking about taste, we are not just talking about our sense of taste, but also the list of things that you like or don't like.

This can be your taste in friends, places, and more, and it’s worth noting that some of these could be contributing to your stress problems.

For example, if your taste in a partner continually leads you to the type of person who is all wrong for you, it might be time to try a different flavor. ..so to speak!

Similarly, eating the same foods or visiting the same places can lead to ruts... which can be hard to escape. In these instances, try seeking out new and exciting tastes and destinations ...that stimulate your senses and expand your horizons.

Life is meant to be lived...enjoyed...explored...tasted.
