Anode from a 100kV Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) I just ...

... completed polishing to a mirror finish. Next I will sonicate it in a few solvents to clean the polish off. The Anode attracts electrons from the gun down through the hole in the middle down to the rest of the scope. I have been getting a lot of dark current even with the filament off, and at low voltage. The Anode was pretty filthy, and there were arc burns on the gun, behind the source even! Something got in there. This should solve the dark current problem. But, if It does not there are other things to check.

You really do not want to see any dark current in a TEM at any kV when emission levels are at base line. You can get away with a few microamps tho, depending on what you are doing.
