Before the iPhone X was officially introduced, there were always rumors how the device is unlocked. Due to the new design, the Home Button has been dropped, which meant that TouchID had to give way. Thus created Apple FaceID and said goodbye to the iPhone X from the long-used fingerprint sensor. The Chinese company "Vivo" now wants to introduce a fingerprint sensor integrated into the display at CES 2018, the Consumer Electronics Show, in Las Vegas. Apple and Samsung have failed in exactly this technology during the period of their update cycles. Apple is therefore in the iPhone X on FaceID and Samsung banned the fingerprint sensor more or less successfully on the back of the devices.
Vivo is already known for it
Most recently, Vivo 2017 has been associated with a novel fingerprint sensor technology. They developed a prototype that used Qualcomm's Sense ID system to ultrasonically detect the finger. Then to the public, the Vivo probably want to use the optical sensor "Clear ID" Synaptics. Clear ID unlocks the device in about 0.7 seconds. This is slower than "normal" previous fingerprint sensors, which take about 0.2 seconds, but still faster than a facial recognition with 1.4 seconds on average.
Which technology in the final product?
Currently it is not known which technology Vivo has finally set on. However, this should clarify in the coming hours, when the company presents their device on January 10, 2018. Vivo itself is part of BBK Electronics, which includes Oppo and OnePlus. The advantage is that probably the OnePlus 6 could therefore also appear with a fingerprint sensor on the display, which would obviously be appreciated by many customers.
