Apple must pay Ireland $14.5 billion (€13bn) in taxes, the European Commission has ruled.
What? $14.5 billion!?
The European Commission has concluded that Ireland granted undue tax benefits of up to €13 billion to Apple. This is illegal under EU state aid rules, because it allowed Apple to pay substantially less tax than other businesses. Ireland must now recover the illegal aid.
Do the math: $14.5 billion / 4,5 million Irish citizens
$14.5 billion is 25% of the country's budget. The Irish government could give every 4,5 million Irish citizen 4 brand new Apple iPhones for free.
Or they could abolish VAT for a whole year. Or reduce income tax by three-quarters. Or double their spending on health care for a year.
Great election promise: 4 free iPhones for every Irishman!
Iphone rigged election? hehe

It's probably going to go to a tax credit though.

The money would never go to the people of Ireland. The totalitarian Troika will take it all and then split the money up for themselves and the Rothschilds ... so that they can make more stupid laws and so on and so on.

I've read that Ireland don't want Apple to pay as that may make them leave. If they get something back it should go on public services
