The Arc de Triomphe (Arc du Triomphe de la place Charles de Gaulle in French) is an important monument in Paris. It is located at the beginning of the famous Avenue des Champs-Élysées, at the center of the Place de l'Étoile (today called Place Charles de Gaulle). The monument was wanted by Napoleon Bonaparte to celebrate the victory in the battle of Austerlitz.
