High up on the Yorkshire Dales is a hidden cave , with court yard and stone stair case leading into it , at least two thousand years old
you have to walk through woods over moores , until you come to the edge of a valley ,
Across the valley you can see the reminants of an Iron age hill fort , which has hidden rooms within the embankments
on this side of the valley a court yard has been excavated into the hill side
you can see a horseshoe court yard has been excavated out of the cliff and a substantialwall built , the sone above the door way must weigh 20 tonnes , and in front of this wall is another enclosed area , the wall is only partially remaining one part held in place by an ancient tree
looking through the door way you can see dirrectly ahead a false door way ,
going though the door way you enter a court yard with a stair case leading up on your right
at the back of the court yard to the left of the false door , an entrance into a cave
in the cave you can see a few rooms and dry stone wall construction , the cave goes back with an opening in the floor leading down to more tunnels and a passage way leading off to the left
it feel creepy and a little unsafe in the cave and i am too claustrophobic to go along the passages , coming out again
up the staircase and back on the moors , one final interesting feature is about 100 meters along the hill side is an escape door , a hidden passage leading from the cave ,
you can see as in the main cave there has been some colapses and errosion over the thousands of years
Yprkshire has many mesterious places , and i have found many of them , ancient monuments aligned to the stars and hidden passage ways under ancient stone circles , if you would like me to post pictures of these and many more mysterious places please vote my post up and give me a thumbs up ,
thank you
Very interesting.
