Glass House | Philip Johnson

in architecture •  7 years ago

After being inspired by Mies van der Rohe's Farnsworth House, this is what Philip Johnson designed. It is considered one of the first most brilliant works of modern architecture.

  • Location: New Canaan, Connecticut
  • Dimensions: 56 feet (17 m) long, 32 feet (9.8 m) wide and 10½ feet (3.2 m) high
  • Year: 1949

The only part not exposed to the outdoors is the cylinder brick structure which is a bathroom on one side and a fireplace on the other.
