Lake Clementine Dam, located in Auburn, California, was created to contain debris from gold mining operations up river. The flow can over the top can be spectacular during storms and during the snow melt in Spring. The debris caught behind dam contains a high about of Placer gold. Gold miners used to take their floating gold suction dredges behind the dam; the practice has been prohibited, but regulations may change, in 2019, allowing suction dredging again. Hope you Steemians enjoyed the pictures and info.
Oh rad, this is amazing. But I'll take rain over droughts any day.... stay safe tho.
Be well

Thanks, and you're right about the rain and safety. It seems like there's never enough water in California, no matter how much it rains.
