Ball pen portraits

Hi! My name is Alejandra Herrera and I'm a visual artist and editorial illustrator.
Today I want to share with you some of my work.
I've been looking for my art identity these last two years, and I'm still doing it. And I think that arts allow me to find myself, while the art is finding me. This is very important for me, because when I put my major effort trying something new, I couldn't recognize myself in the artwork, even after hours of work, and the result was very unsatisfactory. But then, I just enjoyed without thinking about it too much, an my line found me. Now, even when I make different styles in illustration, I can recognize my line in each of them: comic, traditional art, embroidery, an so on.

This is a portrait made in a very small piece of bond paper, using something as simple as a ball pen

This other is a self portrait, same measure that the previous one, same tecnique.

What I like the most about these portraits is the fact that, even when proportions are real, the technique gives it a different sensation that realism.
