Failed drawing watercolour pencils | Cowgirl

I started ok with the drawing

Yesterday I came across a contest with daily theme, which for the past day (closing time about now if I remember correctly) the theme was cowboys and cowgirls. Which I liked, so I started looking up some drawings online and cartoonish style images of cowgirls. One of them I liked, so I decided today I will enter last minute.
I was pretty happy with the result that far, so I started fading the colouring with water, and I thought this would be a nice drawing to enter the contest.. and then I used too much water and the paper scratched.. after that happens you can not fix it anymore..

I hate when this happens

And until today I always seemed to fix it one way or the other, but not with this drawing. I did an attempt to draw the mouth with pink as in lipstick, and if I would have drawn it right in one attempt, it would have come out ok.. unfortunately I didn't manage to do so.. and my drawing was screwed.

I had an idea

Maybe I could fix it digital, but as you may know I'm not that great with digital art as I lack knowledge of how to use those apps, and unfortunately I could not fade it or fix it. Then I had another marvelous idea to cut and paste a stitched mouth from an image into the drawing and maybe with the right size and right way of fading the edges it could come out ok.. but again I failed to do correctly.. lol.

I gave up

But I hate useless attempts of drawings so therefore I picked the previous process picture where I was not too far adding the details and converted to black and white. The reason I won't show the one with the messed up mouth is because it really looked clownish and I am too ashamed to show it. The good news is, I will do another attempt later, and will not mess that one up, I have practiced now lol, so I'm confident I can make a good one after this. The funny thing is that I also forgot to bookmark the contest, so I could not enter anyway, so even though I was just in time if I had not messed it up, I guess it had to be this way lol. I don't mind if you laugh at this drawing, because I did too :)

That really sucks @anouk.nox. I use special paper for watercolors if I use them. The paper is stuck on all sides so it wont get bubbly. And the paper is really thick.

It really sucks when you can't fix the problem. Maybe redraw it?

I should buy special paper for that too when this paper is finished (I have only few left) but it's quite thick this paper.. This was in a set with other drawing material but the thickest paper I have here.. and it was dus to my own mistake that it got scratched it wasnt due to bubbly lol. With the A3 paper I have it usually is, then I'm dipping with tissues constantly :) lol.. I am gonna redraw it, because I managed to fix the rest of the flaws (can't see those fixes above lol) It looks quite cool I guess.. so tomorrow another try! But I felt like it's a waste of time not to do anything with it so I thought lets share a failure for once lol

im sure the next time you try, you'll be more successful and then even more successful, and then you'll be a master painter in no time !!! :D

Lol, thank you for your confidence @veryspider :) A master painter sounds good but for that I need to be on acrylic or oil painting first I guess lol.. but the failed cowgirl is staring at me from my desk at the moment, so I'm quite sure I will give it another go today lol

Self-portrait?

No, found another digital drawing online that I used as an example

Your drawing is alright, quite good still I might say. I couldn't draw a decent drawing to save my life lol

Its super cute anyway! Good job! Practice makes perfect, keep on trying! ♥
