While painting this scene, I honed in on what an abstract landscape could look like. I gave deep thought into composition, colour, shape, and how those elements could work together in harmony while creating a sense of perspective. Sometimes my internal artistic process is just a form of mental excercise. I enjoy balancing colour placement, line, shape, and movement, whilst maintaining active stimuli throughout the artwork. My hope is that the viewers eye will travel all over the painting, and simultaneously find rest in the focal points. The end game vibe I wish to emanate through this particular process is: 'to be on a journey, to feel transformation.' This specific painting is an product of that process!

I also used crackle medium in this piece; an interesting opaque gel that encourages the acrylic paint to split, separate, and crackle! Whether it is mixed directly into the paint, or generously applied on top of it, this medium is fun to experiment with!
