Valorous Dreamer Don Quixote

I think that the most famous Spaniard in the world is Cervantes, who presented the world with an immortal work about the adventures of a sad knight of a knight - Don Quixote.

I do not want to reduce the merits of other Spanish caballeros, but, with the work of Cervantes, I, and my generation, have been acquainted since childhood. I read a book, watched a movie and a lot of cartoons, even a ballet, during which, on the stage, they brought out a live horse, I watched in the theater hall.

I remember how in childhood, in those days when I did not go to school due to illness, I turned on the TV, and there, educational programs were constantly being broadcast. Very often, it was a Spanish lesson that began with a simple cartoon, the main character of which was Don Quixote.

I have long dreamed of drawing Don Quixote, the way I see it, apparently, the time has come.

In my drawing, he looks quite ridiculous, but, my respect, for the thin, sick old man who rose from the hospital bed, put a tin basin on his head, picked up a spear and set off on a journey. seeking adventure and fighting evil, endlessly.

I drew this drawing with a simple ballpoint pen with blue paste on a small sheet of A5 paper, you can see that it is half a sheet of paper for an A4 printer. I did not use a simple pencil and a rubber band to correct mistakes for the sketch. Every movement of a ballpoint pen is my thought and the idea realized.

The main character of the picture is himself, the hidalgo Don Quixote of La Mancha. To go against the system, against your fears, for your ideals, with an iron basin on your head, this is not strange. It is strange when the spirit of adventurism and a spark of courage fade away in people.

Loyal friend, servant and ally of Don Quixote, Sancho Panza. A fat knave, lover of a drink and not devoid of a sense of self-preservation, but faithful to his master.

Don Quixote, looked at the windmills, but, instead of them, he saw bloodthirsty giants. I do not know which giants he saw, but I think that a giant in the form of a dragon can serve in the sinister way that Don Quixote saw before him.

I forgot to say about the horse and the donkey, it was always difficult for me to draw these animals, it’s even harder for me to draw people, but somehow I did something.
