Concept Art - Fish People -

in art •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hello my fellow Steemers!

Today I'd like to share a few quick 20/30 min concepts I made for fun this morning as a 'warm-up' exercise.

I do these warmups/morning sketches before I actually start working. It helps me get the creative juices flowing and sort of speeds my day along.. I get more stuff done during the day when I actually worked on something for myself in the morning..

I don't exactly know why this is.. But it helps.. So I keep doing it :)

Here are the 3 Fishies!

I started with coming up with the 'Shark' dude. Since I saw a documentary film last night on reefs and sharks it was in my head :P
So i figured how sharks with arms look.. I'm crazy.. sorry :'(

Next up was the orca/whale dude.. Because if you draw a shark with arms.. why not swing away at a whale.. right?
I imagine steem whales look like this.. cuz they need the arms and fingers to upvote and write articles?!..

Here is a sappy dolphin.. Clearly the goodguy looks the most badass cuz thats just cool... and makes no sense!
But fish with arms make no sense anyway so..

Hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed coming up with it and drawing them!
I have a timelapsed video of this one in the making so stay 'Tuna' for that! (^^,')

Cheers!

Hehe Thank you very much ;)

Yeah doing a warmup really helps to get that brain muscle going :P

Wow these are incredible! The concepts and the anatomy are really well done and realistic.

haha thank you @aleduruy :) Good to hear you like em ^^

I love how your warm-up sketches look :D They could probably be cool underwater mafia-based game characters C:

lol :D I was having that idea too when i was drawing that dolphin guy XD

If you'd ever, under any circumstances, have an opprtunity to create game like this, let me know. I'd totally play it!

haha that would be cool huh ;D

wow........ good

Thank you :D

You are welcome friend

There is similar characters in some of Alastair Reynolds books I think they are called Denizens they were humans augmented to be shark like for certain jobs. Awesome pics.

Alastair Reynolds is a great author, I've read a lot of his books but I don't remember the shark people which book is it so I can check it out? It has been awhile though so maybe I just forgot about them.

I think it was one of his short stories I cant remember the exact one.

Thanks @kevmcc :D i dont know the book.. sounds weird though! :D im sure ill like it hehhe

This reminds me of that cartoon about the sharks in the 90's, what was it called?

Oh man - 90's cartoons

Street sharks it is called :P

Very cool, and weirdly creepy. :P

Creepy!? :D Hehehe yeh i guess so o.O :D

The thing that probably gets me most is the fact that they have no necks I think... well, no defined necks. Still very well done though. :P

haha thank you man :D

Unknowingly, some things turn into a brain. They are published in another way later. Thank you very much for posting a beautiful post.
