Flamenco is an artistic expression resulting from the fusion of vocal music, the art of dance and musical accompaniment, respectively called cante, baile and toque. The cradle of flamenco is the region of Andalusia, located in southern Spain, although it also has its roots in other regions such as Murcia and Extremadura. Flamenco singing is interpreted, alone and generally sitting, as a man or a woman. Expresses a whole range of feelings and moods -pena, joy, tragedy, rejoicing and fear- through sincere and expressive words, characterized by their conciseness and simplicity
Flamenco dancing, a dance of passion and seduction, also expresses a whole series of emotions, ranging from sadness to joy. Her technique is complex and the interpretation is different, according to who interprets it: if it is a man she will dance it with great strength, resorting mainly to the feet; and if it is a woman, she will execute it with more sensual movements. The touch of flamenco guitar has transcended, for a long time, its primitive function of accompaniment of cante. This also comes with other instruments, such as castanets, and also with applause and heels.
Flamenco is interpreted for the celebration of religious festivities, rituals, sacramental ceremonies and private parties. It is a sign of identity of numerous groups and communities, especially of the gypsy ethnic community that has played an essential role in its evolution. The transmission of flamenco takes place within the dynasties of artists, families, flamenco clubs and social groups, which play a decisive role in the preservation and dissemination of this art. !!
